Abstract
In today’s modern dental practice, we come into contact with patients that have very complex and compromised medical histories. Dental lasers have allowed to treat many compromised patients while keeping these patients on all their daily medications and eliminating the need for additional hospitalizations. Cases will demonstrate laser techniques that will be able to incorporate into practice. Some of the conditions these patients had are secondary myleoplastic anemia, blood disorders, pulmonary embolisms, heart surgery, severe lymphedema, cicatricial pemphigoid, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, stroke and Bell’s palsy. The final goals of this research are demonstrating the proper technique for laser hemostasis with diode and Nd: YAG lasers. Demonstrating pre- and post-op photo-bio-stimulation techniques with low level laser and demonstrating how to control severe tremors in a Parkinson patient with low level laser.
