Dental and Oral Health

Oral health is the practice of keeping one's mouth and teeth clean in order to avoid dental disorders such as cavities, gingivitis, caries, periodontal disease, and bad breath. The purpose of oral hygiene is to prevent the accumulation of plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, and food that forms on the teeth. Dental plaque attaches to cracks and crevices in teeth and produces acid. If not removed regularly, the acid will destroy the protective enamel surface of the tooth, causing tooth decay. Therefore, maintaining oral hygiene should be a lifelong habit to all ages.
