Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene is to keep your mouth clean and disease-free. This includes brushing and flossing your teeth and regular visits to the dentist for x-rays, examinations and cleaning. The purpose of oral hygiene is to prevent the accumulation of plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, and food that forms on the teeth. Dental plaque attaches to cracks and crevices in teeth and produces acid. If not removed regularly, the acid will destroy the protective enamel surface of the tooth, causing tooth decay. Therefore, maintaining oral hygiene should be a lifelong habit to all ages.
